Terms of service

These terms apply when you use the Fluent by Accident web app or the Fluent by Accident browser extension. By creating an account you agree to them.

The service

The extension shows subtitles and translations on top of streaming services you already have access to, and Fluent by Accident turns the words you save into flashcards. We are not affiliated with Netflix or any other streaming service, and the service gives no access to their content.

Your account

• Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
• One person per account.
• Do not use the service to break the law or the terms of the streaming services you watch.

Free and Pro plans

• The free plan includes up to 100 saved words and no AI features.
• Pro is a subscription billed monthly or yearly through Stripe. It renews automatically until you cancel.
• You can cancel any time from your account page. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
• If prices change, we will tell you before your next renewal.

Referral and affiliate programs

Anyone with an account can invite friends with a personal link. Approved affiliates earn a share of what the customers they refer pay, as described on the affiliate page.

• Not allowed: bidding on our brand name in search ads, spam, fake reviews, posting codes on coupon sites, referring yourself or your own accounts, and misleading claims about Fluent by Accident.
• A referral reward waits 30 days before it is added. Nothing is owed for payments that are refunded, disputed or fraudulent, and a refund after a payout is taken off the next one.
• Affiliate commission from one calendar month is paid on the 1st of the month after next (for example, June's commission on August 1), once the payable balance reaches $100. Smaller balances roll over to the next payout.
• We may withhold rewards and suspend a referral or affiliate account that breaks these rules or abuses the program.
• We may change or end the programs. We will tell affiliates in advance, and commissions already approved are still paid.

AI translations

AI and machine translations can be wrong. Use them as a learning aid, not as a certified translation.

Your content

The words, sentences and cards you save are yours. You can export them as CSV and delete them at any time.

Availability and changes

Streaming services change their players, which can break features without warning. We work to fix problems quickly but cannot promise the service will always be available. We may update these terms and will tell you about important changes.
