How to use it

  1. Choose your .srt or .vtt file or drop it anywhere on this page.

  2. Pick a fix: shift everything by a few seconds, convert the frame rate, or type when the first and last lines are actually spoken.

  3. Download the corrected file in SRT or VTT.

Good to know

  • Same delay all the way through: use a simple shift.
  • Delay grows during the film: the subtitles were made for another frame rate. Try 23.976 to 25 or the other way round.
  • Not sure: use two lines. Note the video time of the first and last line and the tool stretches everything in between.

What a 2.5 second shift does

Every start and end time moves by the same amount. With the frame-rate fix, times are multiplied instead, so the gap grows along the film the same way the drift did.

Before:  00:10:00,000 --> 00:10:02,000   ¿Me oyes?
Later:   00:10:02,500 --> 00:10:04,500   ¿Me oyes?

23.976 to 25 fps at one hour:
Before:  01:00:00,000
After:   00:57:32,736

If the subtitles are early, choose Earlier; if they come after the voice, choose Later.

Questions

How do I know how many seconds to shift?

Pause the video when a character starts speaking, note the time, and compare it with that line in the preview. The difference is your shift.

Why do subtitles drift more and more?

They were timed for a video at another frame rate, usually 23.976 against 25 fps. A plain shift cannot fix that; the frame rate option or the two-line sync can.

Does it work with VTT files?

Yes. Drop an SRT or VTT file and download the result in either format.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read by your browser on your own device and never sent to a server. Once the page has loaded it even works offline.
