How to use it

  1. In Anki choose File, Export, Anki Deck Package (.apkg).

  2. Drop the file here and pick the note type if the deck has several.

  3. Download the Excel file. It opens in Excel, Numbers, LibreOffice and Google Sheets.

Good to know

  • The header row is frozen and bold, and columns are sized to their content.
  • Formatting and sound tags are removed by default.
  • Need CSV instead? The same page offers it.

What the workbook looks like

A single sheet named after the note type. The first row holds the field names in bold and stays visible while you scroll.

Questions

Does it work with shared decks from AnkiWeb?

Yes. Download the shared deck, then drop the .apkg file here.

Can I edit the spreadsheet and turn it back into a deck?

Yes. Edit it, then drop it on the CSV to Anki tool, which reads Excel files too.

Are cloze deletions kept?

The text is kept with its {{c1::...}} markers, so you can see and edit them.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read by your browser on your own device and never sent to a server. Once the page has loaded it even works offline.
