Turn subtitles into a clean transcript

Read a film or an episode like a book. The tool strips numbers, timestamps, tags and speaker labels and gives you plain text to read, print or translate.

An SRT or VTT file. Every line becomes readable text.

  • Nothing is uploaded
  • No sign-up
  • Free

How to use it

  1. Choose your .srt or .vtt file or drop it anywhere on this page.

  2. Choose one line per subtitle, or paragraphs that break at pauses in the dialogue. Add timestamps if you want them.

  3. Copy the text or download it as a .txt file.

Good to know

  • Reading the script before watching is one of the easiest ways to follow a film in a new language.
  • Stage directions like [laughs] and labels like JOHN: are removed.
  • Paragraph mode starts a new paragraph after a pause of two seconds or more.

What the transcript looks like

Numbers, timestamps, italics and labels are removed. In paragraph mode, lines spoken without a long pause are joined into one paragraph.

¿Dónde estabas anoche? En casa, te lo juro. No mientas, Pablo te vio en el bar.

Vale, vale. Estuve con Marta.

Questions

Can I paste the transcript into a translator?

Yes. Copy the text and paste it into any translator or reading app. Paragraph mode gives translators more context than single lines.

Can I keep the timestamps?

Yes. Turn on timestamps and each line or paragraph starts with its time, like [00:12:05].

Which files work?

SRT and WebVTT. Convert ASS or SSA files to SRT first with the ASS to SRT tool.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read by your browser on your own device and never sent to a server. Once the page has loaded it even works offline.
