Convert an Anki deck (.apkg) to CSV or Excel
Open any Anki package and download its notes as a CSV or TSV file you can edit in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. HTML and sound tags removed. Free, in your browser, no upload.
Drop your Anki deck here
An .apkg or .colpkg file. In Anki: File, Export, Anki Deck Package. Media is not needed, so untick Include media for a smaller file.
Stays on your computer. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
In Anki choose File, Export. Set the format to Anki Deck Package (.apkg) and untick Include media to keep the file small.
Drop the .apkg or .colpkg file on this page. Every note type in the package is listed; pick the one you want.
Download the CSV for Excel and Google Sheets, or the TSV. Each note is one row and the last column says which deck it belongs to.
Questions
Why not use Anki's own text export?
You can, but Anki's export keeps HTML inside the fields, puts everything in one file and asks several questions. This page strips the formatting, separates note types and opens straight in Excel with the right characters.
Does it work with a full collection (.colpkg)?
Yes. A collection export has every deck; the deck column tells you where each note came from.
My deck says it needs a newer version.
In Anki, when exporting, tick Support older Anki versions and drop the new file.
Is my deck uploaded anywhere?
No. The package is unzipped and read by your browser on your computer. Nothing is sent to a server.
What happens to pictures and sound?
They are left out. Image tags and [sound:] references are removed when formatting is stripped, so the spreadsheet holds only text.
